HYPERBOREA: Players' Manual, Referee's Screen, and more!

Iconic Characters Stretch Goal

Hello friends,

We are getting quite close to unlocking the second stretch goal for this Kickstarter campaign, so I thought I would take a moment to provide some details. Here are the basic details provided on the campaign page:

Every backer receives a PDF of seven iconic characters (barbarian, cataphract, huntsman, paladin, cryomancer, runegraver, and purloiner), developed by David Prata, Jeffrey Talanian, and Del Teigeler. These characters (usable as PCs or NPCs) will be fully pre-generated, presented at low, middle, and high levels. Each will be illustrated by Mr. Teigeler as both a full figure and profile bust. These seven characters are also featured on the cover of the Hyperborea Player Character Folder.

So, each of the seven characters will be presented in 1st, 4th, and 7th levels. These can be used as player characters, non-player characters, or pre-gens for conventions and the like. Each character will include a brief (one paragraph) background; also, as for the characters as a unit, there will be a brief group history. 

What's cool (at least to me, friends!) is that each of these "iconics" was featured in the second edition hardback of Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea, each illustrated by Del Teigeler. Let's examine, for example, the Amazon Paladin:

For the purpose of this stretch goal, this character is now provided with a name: Andromeda Hippolytedoros. She (and each of the other "iconic" characters) is being provided a full portrait picture by Del, and a profile picture. 

I believe that this stretch goal is going to be a great resource for players and referees alike, providing excellent characters with distinctive AS&SH qualities. I hope you agree!

Players' Manual finished inks by Val Semeiks!

Greetings friends,

Work continues daily to fulfill this Kickstarter in a timely and responsible fashion. All the parts continue to fall into place, thanks due to a dedicated team of hard-working contributors. Among them is Val Semeiks, who just completed the inks for the HYPERBOREA: Players' Manual. 

You may be wondering how this image is going to work. Allow me to explain! This will be a full wraparound cover with 4-inch gatefold flaps. So, from left to right you are looking at the following: 

• 4-inch back cover flap -->
• back cover --> 
• 1-inch spine --> 
• front cover --> 
• 4-inch front cover flap 

So, if you are looking at just the front cover, it is going to look more like this:

Of course, the next step is for this wraparound cover to be coloured by Daisey Bingham, whose work is nothing short of exemplary. In a future update, I will share her progress. 

This Kickstarter campaign has been a great success so far! We are fully funded, and we've unlocked our first stretch goal! It's an exciting time here at North Wind Adventures, and I can't thank you enough for your generous support. Our success is attributed to not only your financial support, but also by your willingness to spread the word to your fellow gamers, so please continue to share or mention this project at Facebook, G+, MeWe, Twitter, and so forth. First Stretch Goal Achieved!

Greetings friends,

I am happy to say that we have achieved our first stretch goal, a Rats in the Walls and Other Perils™ bookmark! These bookmarks, which have been very popular with some of our past adventure modules, will be included with each print copy of Rats in the Walls and Other Perils. Here is a recent example of a bookmark:

The bookmark for Rats in the Walls and Other Perils was designed and saved before we launched this Kickstarter campaign. It is ready to go to print!

Isn't the Mike Tenebrae artwork on this cover exciting and frightening? He's been turning in more work that I look forward to sharing with you in future updates. Speaking of this cover, how about the Rats T-shirt that we'll be offering as a Backerkit add-on? It's going to be an excellent shirt. I will wear mine proudly!

Fellows,

Thanks to your kindness and generosity, this AS&SH Kickstarter campaign funded over the weekend while Mr. David Prata and I were attending Carnage 21 in Killington, VT.

It's so gratifying to know that you folks enjoy AS&SH enough to continue supporting it. What started as a game I thought would be fun to play with my beer drinking buddies has become something that folks all over the world now enjoy playing. I am humbled by the show of support. Thank you!

Now let's see if we can achieve some of those stretch goals!

Thank you for supporting the new Kickstarter campaign from North Wind Adventures! As I write this, we are about 75% to our funding goal, which is fantastic. I am thrilled by the level of support and the continued growth of and interest in Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea! 

Most readers of this initial update will have already backed the campaign, and truly you have done your part to help us reach our goal.
